The Fonz in Bronze
Yep, it finally happened, Milwaukee has honored their most celebrated hero “The Fonz” (aka Arthur Fonzarelli) , by dipping him in bronze.A life size statue of the leather jacket wearing “Happy Days” character was dedicated on Tuesday and now stands proudly along the Milwaukee River. This huge event for Milwaukee wouldn’t have happened if not for two booster groups, VISIT Milwaukee and Spirit Milwaukee, who pushed really hard to raise money for the statue, including a website selling “Bronze the Fonz” t-shirts. Henry Winkler, the actor who played “The Fonz” said the statue was “one of the great honors of all-time.”
For trivia buffs, no scenes were ever filmed in the city, despite it being set there (it was an LA production). It was, however ,the home town of the show’s executive producer, Thomas L. Miller. Tom Bosley and Henry Winkler were the only two cast members to appear in every episode.
